I have a suspicion that I left it on a conveyor belt at a check-out register somewhere. Unfortunately, I forgot to put my name on it, so I do believe it is lost for forever.

I seriously love editing pictures. It is fascinating to see how much my style has changed {and continues to change}. I haven't had any instruction on editing, so I continue to discover new things every day.

It was pea soup outside all day today. It was so strange to drive through such heavy fog in Houston at 3:45p.m. These pictures were taken before six this evening. The ground was so mushy and damp that I just shot by hand, though a tripod would have been uberly helpful.

As you can tell I really lightened up the top picture to pull out the cat. The quality is awful, but I enjoy the strange, dreamy nature of it. So I decided to upload it. :)

As I drove home from babysitting today I was treated to a GORGEOUS sunset.

The issue with sunsets is that the time frame to shoot them is so tight. So I dashed inside, grabbed my camera, and dashed back outside. I forgot my flip-flops on the way out, so I stumbled-tripped-stumbled-tripped across the freezing, rocky driveway. And got this shot before the sun had sunk too far.

In general, I hate shooting this piece of furniture because some line or angle - between the cabinet, wallpaper, and plate hanger - is not straight. And that drives me insane.

Plus when I shot this picture tonight I had a microscopic bit of natural light coming in from the left side which threw off the overall tone. That is why the lower left-side wallpaper is a different hue.

But I fell in love with the lemons on top, so I thrust aside my prejudices and shot it anyway.

I am resting comfortably warm with my feet on the windowsill, watching pattern of snow and mixed precipitation.

It is snowing now. But due to a fluctuating temperature, as evidenced by the alternating of the two weather phenomenons, the snow is no longer sticking, and actually it has almost melted completely off the ground.

It is still beautiful.

This past week and a half has been rather full with babysitting and volunteering commitments and writing sessions and shaking off a determined cold.

I haven't pulled out my camera in over a week.

But even though I don't have a picture to post today, I still wanted to give y'all a howdy-doody.

Have a super Thanksgiving, friends o' mine.

I could begin a cliche list of things I am thankful for, but that would be sappy and boring (for y'all). Instead I will be concise and brief and yet all encompassing.

I am thankful for the knowledge that my God is not one made of human hands. And I am thankful for all the implications of that accompany that fact.

I am thankful for all these things and more.

But to divert your attention from the lack the new material being posted - this picture has one element that I often love to include {which is an ironic word to use} in my shots: a lack of eyes. This picture and this picture are also examples of photos which leave the eyes as a question mark.

My two youngest brothers are participating in a home school "talent show-esque" event tonight called Share Night. They each are reciting poetry. I visited their room this morning, and had them recite their pieces to me.

This is where my photoblog posts are often uploaded from. I also sit here often musing over posts for my "Other Blog." The window you see next to my desk faces west, so while I am sitting at my desk I often become inspired to shoot the sunset.

There is a second window in my room. It is on the wall to the left of the desk. It faces south toward a row of pine trees and a cow pasture. Perhaps, not as inspiring as a sunset, but still a great view.

Besides loving the two large windows, I also enjoy the fact that both of our windows look out onto our covered porch. Nothing beautifies a rainy day like a porch roof.

If you noticed the strange appearance of the chair - I am in the middle of refinishing it. I actually also refinished the desk this past summer.

Good morning, Bald Eagle

I woke up this morning (actually I was awaken - "YOU HAVE GOT TO TAKE A PICTURE OF THIS!") to a bald eagle in the front yard. The below pictures were taken through the window in my room (and subsequently cropped, because it was still an acre or so away).

We have seen a few bald eagles fly over in the past, but this was the first one that actually stayed for a short visit. In case you are curious, the bald eagle has a very large range, though they would only be this south during the winter.

Be sure to click on the pictures to enlarge them. I went outside to get some closer pictures, but the eagle took off as soon as I got on the front porch. I would have loved to get closer, but you have to take what you get.

My two youngest brothers were out practicing their archery skills this evening in the front yard (Benefit #495 of living in the country). I snapped a number of pictures but with an overcast sky and a setting sun it was tough to get any good shots. This one was my favorite, hands-down for a number of reasons.

Remember this picture? Well, all that cutting paid off earlier this month with the culmination of the service project.

The total number of clippings was 1,848. (Thanks to a "Cut-It-Out" party, Lexi and I did not have to cut all them out ourselves.) But Lexi and I did have count them all... which took nearly two hours.

The service project was a great success and everyone involved was blessed.

My family (namely the younger sibling demographics of the family) loves the game of Nertz. I have featured it in the past a couple of times - here and here.

In case you are curious, there is a National Nertz Association. My favorite part of their website is the Terminology page - and my favorite part of the Nertz Terminology page is the definition of "Blanket Apology."

Blanket Apology - An apology offered by a player to the entire table for any offenses made to others before, during, or after a game of Nertz. This is due to the decreased levels of self control that Nertz usually causes.
